This is Charlie Porter, mayor of Pembroke, Kentucky. Pembroke is a quaint
little out-of-the-way town of about 1000 people known mostly for its
burgeoning community of Amish farmers and its beautiful old 19th century
homes, many of them owned by upscale urban exiles who make their living out
of home offices. Charlie and the rest of the non-horse driving citizenry
decided to change the name of the Pembroke Community Hall a couple of years
ago to more accurately reflect the 21st century ethos of its well-wired
townfolk.
