In some sense, Ron, this is absolutely true. JavaBeans has been dying a
slow, painful death over the past year. A year ago, it was a compelling
technology with much potential; a year later, how much further as a
technology are they really?
I mean, beyond the hype (yes, CORBA beans are nice in concept as are to
a lesser extent an ActiveX bridge to beans, but what have they done for
me lately?) -- are any of these technologies actually useful yet? Nope.
I tried -- I tried DESPERATELY -- to use Beans as they exist. And Beans
as they exist are... the kind of beans that are burnt and stuck to the
pan and are a pain in the butt to get unstuck unless you use that
dishwashing fluid that softens hands while you do the dishes...
What I'm trying to say is, hype is nothing, Beans could have been a
really good SHIPPING technology by now if they had someone like Ron at
the helm...
