I have this memory of Richard. It was in January 1994 and I had just
started at CERN - very new to the Web and the Internet. Ari Luotonen and I
had a problem finding out the right way to discover alias names for host
names - we wanted to make the CERN proxy cache aware of it. I looked in
the "Advanced Programming in the UNIX Environment'' but couldn't find the
answer and so I wrote an email to Richard asking what to do. I remember
the amazement I felt when he answered me just minutes after. It was the
first time I truly realized the grandness of the Net.
What a terrible loss!
