LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - MTV has refocused
on its music roots, helping its ratings
and relations with the $38 billion music
industry, but long gone are the days when videos
on the music network set the pace in the
business.
``We felt it was time to rejuvenate music
videos and repackage them primarily in response
to our audience,'' said Van Toffler,
general manager for MTV's Music Television service.
Total household ratings were up 25 percent
to 0.5 in the second quarter and its prime-time
ratings were up 17 percent to 0.7 for the
same period, according to Nielsen Media
Research.
Just to put these pathetic numbers in perspective.
Monday Night Pro Wrestling (Nitro on TNT and WWF War Zone on USA) regularly
draw a 4.5 - 6.0 PER SHOW! With a combined in the area of 9.5 to 11.0
