Fro mwhat I hear, superstition is pretty rampant in the Soviet Union,
including things tlike departments of extreterrestrial studies in major
universities. I take it as a sign that people without any legitimate
mysticism will invent illegitimate ones. Or, as someone said, "When people
cease to belive in God, it is not that they believe nothing, but rather
that they will believe anything."
