Don't know if it's about being a benevolent dictator so much as a conscientious
slave. Open source is a lot of hours for no pay. Almost anybody with talent
and time (and the poor judgement to work for free) can get a major voice. ...as
to decision making power, it's the typical nerdocracy where the quality of a new
coder's arguments can easily make up for their junior status. Think of Eliote
Rusty Harold's contributions to JDOM - even though he's not a founder, he did a
lot of work and so has a lot of impact.
