NEW YORK (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. plans to acquire LinkExchange
Inc., a closely held Internet advertising firm, in a $250 million
stock deal, people familiar with the plan told the Wall Street
Journal for Thursday's editions. LinkExchange places advertising
banners on about 400,000 Web sites, though many are personal home
pages and not large commercial sites. The newspaper said LinkExchange
will be integrated into the Microsoft Network, or MSN, group.
Microsoft officials declined to comment to the Journal. The newspaper
said LinkExchange officials also were not available to comment.
