Microsoft Corp is willing to purchase privately-held
free e-mail provider HotMail Corp but is also willing
to invest in the company if an outright acquistition
cannot be made, sources familiar with talks
between the two companies said.
One of the sources said Microsoft has been willing
to pay "somewhere between $300 million and $500
million," or about the price Microsoft paid for
Internet TV service company WebTV this year, to
acquire HotMail.
