Didn't ALR have its HQ in Irvine, too, before the Compaq (?) buyout?
I remember making a trip down from Caltech to far-faraway Irvine with our
sysadmin to pick up one of the first ALR Evolution V's to come off the line:
blazing P-60s with 64Mb and 1Gb disks to run NS/Intel. After that, we went out
driving some incredibly windy roads to the ocean and had lunch by the beach.
I can't recognize any of those landmarks now, but that's probably because so
much of South OC has been paved over in the last five years. I don't think
SR133 is anything like that dramatic a drive anymore :-(
