Well, again I think the recent JIT compilation work (Java, etc.) has the
potential of generalizing the synthesis work. Some of the JIT results I've
seen are just incredible, and it's just a matter of time before the OS folks
start using it.

(Oh, but wait... Java's dead, right? :-)
