Thanks to William Safire's timely column this past Sunday, I am set
straight. Apparently, in defiance of all rules about
(mis)spelling-by-the-masses on the Net, I found the one authoritative
error out there.

Instead, the correct derivation is Bowdler. In fact, the citation I made
in my last FoRKpost had it right! I'm an idiot!
