The missile gap was stupid enough, but a computation gap? In a world of
super fast, super cheap PCs, fast networking, and Moore's law????

Funding for http://www.beowulf.org/ , http://symbio.ncsa.uiuc.edu/ , etc. --
sure. But please, not a dime for "supercomputers".
