Jon Orwant has been named chief technology officer at O'Reilly & Associates,
the Sebastopol, Calif., publisher of computer books that include a long list
of open source code titles. O'Reilly President and Chief Executive Tim
O'Reilly described Orwant as a modern Renaissance man. "He's a Perl
programmer extraordinaire, serious computer scientist, writer, editor,
wickedly entertaining speaker and all-around big-picture thinker," O'Reilly
said
