NEC Claims World's Strongest Encryption
NEC Corp will announce today at the Encryption and Information Security
Symposium in Okinawa, Japan encryption technology that hides not just the
message but the key to deciphering it. CipherUnicorn-A can change its
encryption key from the 128-bit standard to 192 or 256-bit keys, also
inserting dummy keys to confuse possible hackers. The Japanese consumer
electronics firm expects to use the technology in faxes, modems and credit
card transaction systems. CipherUnicorn-A has an interface which means users
of DES (data encryption standard) or AES (advanced encryption standard) can
plug it into existing software.
