Israeli Firm Handles E-Mail For God
-- By Reuters
JERUSALEM - Want to e-mail God? An Israeli
Internet company will place your cyberspace
message in Jerusalem's Wailing Wall, where
Jewish tradition says He picks up His post.
"We are getting between 15 and 20 messages a
day from all over the world," Avi Moskowitz,
president of Virtual Jerusalem, said today.
"Once a month, we go out there, take all the
prayers we receive and deliver them to the
Wall."
Moskowitz, originally from New York, said his
company does not read the e-mail, which a
computer program prints on to four or five
sheets of paper that are stuffed in the
Wall's crevices along with hand-written
messages traditionally left there.
"(People) look for a way of communicating
with God and the outer Wall of the (biblical
Jewish) Temple is as close as you can get to
him," he told Reuters.
The service is free and available on Virtual
Jerusalem's homepage at
http:/www.virtual.co.il.
"May your prayers be answered for the good,"
the page says.
Moskowitz said his company's site contained
the largest collection of Israel and
Jewish-related material on the World Wide Web
and that it planned to broadcast a live video
picture from the Wailing Wall during the
Chanukah holiday in December.
