Pessimistic people are more accurate but optimistic people are more successful
by most measures. There is a PRI show with a number of psychologists that
make this point.

Confidence that comes from relevant experience is unlikely to have a negative
effect on accuracy, depending on how you define accuracy. If more experience
with a problem doesn't improve your ability to deal with it in the future, the
problem must be pretty random.
