A senior Dallas priest who said parents shared responsibility for the
sexual abuse of 11 altar boys by another priest has retired after a
public outcry over his comments, officials said Tuesday. Monsignor
Robert Rehkemper resigned as pastor of the All Saints Catholic Church
on Monday, becoming the first Dallas diocese official to step down
after a jury last month ordered the diocese to pay a record $119.6
million in damages to the abused former altar boys. He also criticized
the 11 victims, one of which committed suicide in 1992. See the full
