Excellent article debunking the myth that "small business is the engine of
the US economy". Small business are mayflies -- only 2.4% survive four
years. That said, the broader analysis there is also reassuring: job growth
and losses are essentially constant across firm size: small-business and
big-business are in the same damn economy after all.
Problem is, everyone quotes from american scripture to pander to
small-business owners. Because one thing is true without any statistical
analysis at all: there are more small-business ceo voters than big. And
Democracy is just the tyranny of the majority...
