Maybe. But is there a level at which a pay package (salary or the whole kit n
kaboodle), however honestly earned, becomes too much? "obscene" "wrong"
"immoral"? I asked that question once, wrote a column about it, got some
interesting answers, from infinity down to a million bucks. The best answer
was someone who said that obscenity in pay was like pornography--difficult to
describe in the abstract, but you know it when you see it.
