The world's biggest airline is set to get bigger.
UAL Corp., the parent of Elk Grove Township-based United Airlines, announced
Wednesday that it is acquiring US Airways Group Inc., the nation's sixth-
largest carrier.
[$11.6B. Such small potatoes these days.]
The chairman of US Airways, Stephen Wolf, said the agreement allowed the
company to become a "world-class global carrier in a single stroke."
[Wouldn't that be a "world-class domestic carrier", since what it gives United
is better access to East coast hubs?]
Cheers,
Wayne
