UNITED AIRLINES TO RESUME 'ROUND-THE-WORLD SERVICE

May 18, 2000
New flights fueled by strong growth in the India market

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO, May 18, 2000--United today announced that it will resume
'Round-the-World service on April 1, 2001, becoming the only airline
in the world to offer single-carrier service around the globe. The
flights will link Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Delhi and
London, and will cover 19,705 miles.

The decision by United to resume 'Round-the-World service was driven
by the robust growth of the market to India and growing customer
demand in Delhi for access to the U.S., Europe and Asia.
'Round-the-World service uniquely positions United as the only
airline that can satisfy all of these customer needs.

"No other airline in the world can match the breadth and depth of
service that United provides," said Stuart Oran, senior vice
president--international. "We are in the unique position of being the
only carrier that ties India to the United States from both east and
west, London and Hong Kong."

According to Oran, service to Delhi is strategically important to
United, and the airline is seeking to capitalize on strong demand
from a market that is under-served.

United will offer Boeing 747-400 three-class service on all
'Round-the-World flight segments, featuring a configuration of 14
state-of-the-art United First Suites in First Class, 84 Seats in
United Business, and 270 Seats in United Economy.

The flights, which will be available for purchase on Saturday, May
20, will follow the following schedule:

the fall of 1999, the airline temporarily suspended Delhi service due
the Asian economic recession.

As the world's largest airline and the largest employee-owned
company, United Airlines offers nearly 2,400 flights each day on a
route network that spans the globe. It is a founding member of the
Star Alliance, a network that includes 11 of the world's leading
airlines.
