From: I'm not a real doofus, but I play one at a national laboratory (baisley@fnal.gov)

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey is a sky mapping project with its computing base
here at Fermi Lab, and a telescope at Apache Point, New Mexico. The SDSS folks
are one floor up from me, on the other side of the building. I occassionally
fix infrastructure problems on their cluster of machines. The project has
already found the most distant object yet seen -- a 13 BY old quasar, 27 BLY
away (a redshift of 5.8).
Apparently M$ has signed on to bring 40 TB of starbits to the masses.
