This varies. One monitor/card combo got messy with 6 feet of cable,
another looks OK with 15 - 20 feet.
I have a monitor, keybd, and amp in the living room, with the box in
the basement (4 boxen, some ancient drives - pretty noisy), no
problems. Not high-powered video, tho.
And of course, if there's a thick wall between you and the box, it
doesn't have to be far away.
