OAKLAND -- All the man and woman wanted to do was tell the speeding
pickup truck driver -- who had almost collided with their car as he
talked on a cell phone -- to be more careful, police said Wednesday.

But their effort turned into a nightmare when, in one of the most
violent cases of road rage police said they have ever seen, the truck
driver shot the man several times and then chased their car briefly as
they drove to the hospital.
