Skymoon Ventures Closes First Fund at $100 Million

ALTO, Calif. (VENTUREWIRE) -- Skymoon Ventures, a VC firm founded by
Mike Farmwald, an entrepreneur and venture partner at Benchmark
Capital, closed its $100-million fund last Thursday. The fund, the
firm's first, is comprised mostly of Mr. Farmwald's money,
and focuses mainly on semiconductors and telecommunications
infrastructure companies. The amount of the fund's investments
will vary from company to company. Benchmark Capital has co-invested
with Skymoon Ventures in ByteMobile, a platform for wireless Internet
services and enhanced content delivery; Cambia, a wireless
infrastructure provider; and Matrix Semiconductor, a fabless
semiconductor firm. Skymoon's portfolio also includes AON
Networks, a developer of a carrier-class IP services platform;
Optical Datastreams, a freespace optical IP infrastructure company;
SproQit, a developer of client-server platform for wireless devices;
and Terabit Ethernet, an optical Ethernet infrastructure firm. Mr.
Farmwald has founded six companies to date, five of which were
financed in part by Benchmark. Mr. Farmwald co-founded Rambus, a
publicly traded developer of scalable chip technologies.
