PALO ALTO, Calif. - March 6, 2001 -- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW)
today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire InfraSearch, Inc.
a privately held company based in Burlingame, California. InfraSearch is a
leading innovator of peer-to-peer (P2P) searching technology. With this
acquisition, Sun intends to strengthen and accelerate efforts within Bill
Joy's Project Juxtapose (JXTA) -- an incubation research effort addressing
new styles of distributed computing, which was discussed at the O'Reilly P2P
Conference.
