you took a parenting course because you wanted to be a good parent. people
who are forced to take a class, get a certificate, a grade, whatever, would,
i think, be no different from people who are forced to go to family family
family therapy. i don't see a problem with that; they might not want to be
there, but they'd learn something nonetheless.
(what is it about the word "counseling" or "therapy" that seems to raise the
hackles on some people's necks? it's just like a classroom, with a tutor and
an pupil. the "teacher" gives you books to read, assignments to do, stuff
like that. some problems are just due to wrong thinking about things. it's
becoming apparent to me that judgemental people like dr. laura give all
therapists, ergo therapy, a bad name.)
