Hey Henrik,

I admit that I cringed when I wrote that. But it's much easier to
explain to non protocol-weenies by calling it an API, rather than doing
the work to explain the relationship between protocol and API.

When explaining anything, I try, whenever possible, to reference what I
believe to be the other person's mental model, rather than my own.
