The nuclear option is completely discredited, unless you want
to power military ships, subs, don't care about costs or environmental
impact -- or want to project cost-effective destruction power to
remote locations.

As to transports, consider hybrids and fuel cell ships. Another
option maybe wind -- and yet another local-mostly. If power is
expensive, local options become more cost-effective.

P.S. Germany 2011 was a net energy exporter, despite almost
complete nuke shutdown.
