FWIW, if it is anything like their music deals, apparently most of the
cheaper price comes out of the pocket of the artist, not the
distributor, as a result of shit standard contracts. So the artist is
actually making less money.

Presumably that will change over time as contracts get
renewed/renegotiated, but as of right now the only way you can ensure
that you're not fucking the artist royally is to buy directly from
them (or nearly from them, e.g., CD Baby.)
