I'm deeply pained, torn between the (a) desire to see the above happen  
and (b) the realization that taxes, once enacted, are rarely reduced  
and that socialist principles, once embodied in our political system,  
require lifetimes to overcome (cf. FDR's pernicious and lasting  
influence.)
