He encouraged the creation of words for 'private citizen' that were  
somewhat positive, and made _The Nation_ somewhat worth reading for the  
embedded gems.  I could never take a guy who was always being pwn3d by the  
couch he was in as a fearmonger, though clearly the starstruck kids who  
came to him had reserves.
