Sit down young Neddy and let me tell you a tale. Yes. Younger man that
I was and fresh to the Portland area from a life time in NYC a friend
took me to a shooting range for a little taste of what  cultural
differences there are to be found in folks. In we walked to the store
front of the range and there we two were picking out all manner of
guns for your humble gun virgin narrator to try out when BLAM BLAM
goes a gun from inside the range area. Before I knew what I had done
my massiv bulk was down on one knee looking for cover zones. Years of
subway and city dwelling had been ingrained in the muscle memory.
Those around who noticed gave a quick laugh, as did I once I shrugged
it off. I felt even better after I had laid waste to several targets
with a variety of guns including a big old dirty harry looking piece
of metal. That was about 9 years ago and I have yet to repeat the
activity.
