BTW,

"Invisible hand" was clearly an unfortunate choice of terminology on  
the part of Mr. Smith.

This should be a cautionary tale on (a) the dangers of metaphors in  
general, and (b) the specific danger of invoking spooky supernatural  
imagery in explaining perfectly mundane natural processes.
