Let's be clear:
I think it's "okay" for other people to have their beliefs; I just
think if those beliefs involve invisible monsters in the sky /
invisible dragons in the garage / whatever then they're sadly and
dangerously wrong in a very serious way, and I now feel compelled to
tell them so. We don't have a choice --- only in that we can't
choose what other people believe. But we *do* have a choice about
how we respond. Where we disagree, I suspect, is in how and whether
to respond to somebody expressing their religious beliefs. I say
"tolerance hasn't worked, separation of church and secular life
hasn't worked, and the religious feel compelled to spread their
contagion --- so let's us non-believers try something different for
a change."
