  The Dark Materials novels are Gnostic stories about
  killing the Demiurge ("master technician.")

  You might want to rethink this alliance, Jeff;
  I don't think this is quite the right tool for atheists...


  It's true that they're Anti-Church, ...
  ...but it's because they're Pro-Life.

  That is, the universe of the Dark Materials is *clearly*
  holy and filled with the spirits of life.  That's *why* it's
  so essential that the characters fight:  For the health
  of the multiverse.

  Is this *really* what you want to be teaching the
  little ones, Erisian?
