To make up for it, they have all kinds of homonyms and puns.... "ikura ha 
ikura" or "Sakura uteru no mise no naka ni, sakura mimashita", at least two 
Kanji readings, and all kinds of honorific forms as well. Thank god they 
often differentiate using one of the 3 written forms... ;-)
