I don't have the time.

But in actuality, I am on the internal email lists for the Democrat,
Republican, and Libertarian parties, which I use as source feeds for mining
mostly; it hardly takes any time at all. Living in Silicon Valley, I have
friends who are actually party officials for both the Ds and Ls. Most party
hacks think you fit perfectly with whatever their party is if you are an
independent libertarian for some reason.

Of course, my deep burning secret is that I am actually a Republican blue
blood, and that I have aunts and uncles that are either serving in high
office or are high Republican party officials in the northeast. All offset
by the fact that my parents are hardcore leftwing socialists (and militant
Democrats) of course.

I develop my opinions on things that aren't worth the effort like politics
by mining the crap out of many different diverse sources and analyzing the
results. Right now, both the Dems and the Repubs have some brutal internal
politics going on inside their parties. In my estimation, the ones that
manage to squash this problem best will win. The Ds and Rs are playing a
game of political chicken. In general, it looks like the Rs are making a
savvy short-term play and the Ds are making a savvier long-term power
consolidation play. Personally though, I don't give a crap. I just like to
watch.
