There's another problem with high-deductible health insurance, which is that
the subscriber who pays directly does not get the benefit of the negotiated
discounts offered to the insurance companies.  The difference is dramatic,
often more than a 50% difference.  So low-deductible health insurance is not
really insurance, it's really a volume buying plan.
