auto-launching of NeXT apps for files

Would it be possible for the NEXTSTEP web browsers to check the extension
of the file downloaded for possible launching? We have a customer who
wants to use HTML to do computer-based training (CBT). However, they want
to establish links to files created by different applications (e.g.,
Concurrence) and to have those files launched and opened using the
appropriate application when the user clicks on that URL.

I know there are some identification issues involved, and it may even
require explicit registration on the part of the user (much like the
"helpers" section in NetScape), but I think it would be a big win for any
browser that supported it. ..bruce..
