Isn't Digital using a slew of Alpha's? Isn't Web crawler on a couple of SUN's?

God I hate WIRED almost as much as I hate R.E.M . and U2.

As expected, HotWired today will make its formal entry into
the crowded search
engine market.

Called HotBot, the search engine is a result of a
partnership between HotWired and
Inktomi, the developer of the product, the Associated Press
reported.

HotBot takes a different approach to indexing information
culled from the hundreds of
thousands of Web sites on the Internet. Instead of deploying
a single powerful and
expensive computer, HotBot uses several lower-end machines
and networks them to
perform similar tasks.

"By using a bunch of little machines instead of one big
machine, we get no limits on
growth, better cost performance, and better fault tolerance
because if one node fails
the rest can cover for them," Inktomi's co-founder Eric
Brewer told the AP
