Sorry, Tom, I had a problem parsing the last message. I'm sure there
was a point, but I'm not sure what it was. Let me see if I can
extrapolate at least part of it: I wouldn't exactly characterize this
whole "discussion" as a debate, therefore I'm not quite sure why we want
to slap debate rules into place. As for "sidestepping," I think I
clearly answered my whole POV on the "lie under oath" issue --- I don't
give a rat's ass, given the subject matter and the context of the
question, if he lied under oath or not. At the end of the day, his
presidency is accomplishing my goals, and not doing much of anything
that negatively impacts me (other than soaking up the media with this
neo-Hawthorne controversy,) so I don't have a problem. I don't care
*what* he says, to who, as long as it doesn't impact me directly or
indirectly. Perhaps when there's more relevance to my own personal
situation, I'll care.

The point is, the blowjob's not the point. Sure, fine. The idealists
want to take this whole "perjury" thing to task. At an idealistic
level, sure, that's fine. But if we're going to be that idealistic,
let's take a good look at the whole matter: the context, the behavior
of Ken Starr, the behavior of most of our elected officials, etc. Let's
not all act disgusted and apply a higher level of scrutiny and a higher
standard to one particular member of the government than any other, or
for that matter than we would consent to having applied to ourselves.
