Sleep Deprivation

Sleep Deprivation n. -- results when the town you live in happens to have a
baseball team going to the World Series and people relentlessly drive up
and down the street honking their horns into the wee hours of the night as
if they didn't have a job to go to in the morning and you sit there kicking
yourself in the ass for renting a place downtown cuz you thought it would
be fun and close to work!

Yes, I'm finally grounded here in San Diego 2 hours south of Huntington
Beach where I used to live. Many of you don't know me. I'm usually quiet,
but not quite lurker status.

Anyway, I've taken a position in San Diego far from the security from
behind the Orange Curtain I used to know and love. San Diego has quite a
bit of charm, but not tonight. The game ended before 5 pm and it's now
after 11 pm and people are still celebrating beneath my window. I rented
an apartment right smack in downtown San Diego in the Historic Gaslamp
District. The cops blocked off the entire block and it took me about 45
minutes to figure out how to get around the blockade and go home, just to
find out that double paned glass isn't enough to block out the hysteria.

I'm still running my own business on the side doing communications
consulting, but Monday through Friday, I work for a company called Silicon
Space that builds web-based software solutions using Lotus Notes and
Domino. Some of our clients have indicated an interest in Exchange so
we'll be moving that direction too. I'm a project manager working on-site
full time at Hewlett Packard in Rancho Bernardo. Pretty exciting and SSI
is a wonderful company to work for. Yes, they're hiring like crazy and
looking for programmers, business architects and designers. Anyone
interested should email me their resume.

Hope everyone is doing well, and glad to finally be back online. Still
catching up with 3 weeks worth of mail.

Take care,
