AST computer, formerly headquartered in Irvine
and right across town, who as late as 1994-1995 donated
over 100 AST semi-useless 386 machines as a last ditch tax write off
to our very own ICS right before being bought out by
Samsung instead of going belly up and is now
a fully-owned subsidy, and first company to produce
a sub-$1000 PC, plans to lay off 37% of their workforce, or about
1,110 employees. This following last years global workforce
cut of 1,000 employees (or 25% of last years number).

You would think they would cut some of their crappy product
lines instead.
