DAMN! What a DEAL: 30 days of open travel on the Cathay network for
$999... RK

PS. And to top it all off, well, I've heard some pretty amazing things
about Cathay FAs :-)

=======

With an incomparable Asian route network, a
modern fleet and a reputation for excellent service,
who better than Cathay Pacific to offer you this
unique travel opportunity to see more of Asia than
you ever thought possible? By purchasing an All Asia
Pass, you can see any or all of the following cities:
Bangkok, Cebu, Colombo, Denpasar (Bali), Fukuoka,
Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Nagoya,
Osaka, Penang, Sapporo, Seoul, Singapore,
Surabaya, Taipei and/or Tokyo.

* Cathay Pacific is hailing its 30-day pass for $999 for
registered visitors to its Internet site as an innovation in online
marketing. Analysts, however, said that Cathay Pacific needs to
generate more passengers because of the drop in passenger load since
June. The devaluation of area currencies has led to a 12-13 percent
drop in passengers from June through September compared to the same
period in 1996. "Hong Kong has become too expensive for many Asian
flyers," said Wendy Wong, a Merrill Lynch analyst in Hong Kong. She
added that financial problems in countries from Japan to Thailand has
cut into Cathay's business.
The "All Asia Pass" is good for flights from New York or Los
Angeles to as many as 18 Asian destinations, including Hong Kong,
Bangkok, Jakarta, Singapore and Tokyo. Carrier officials report that
their website (http://www.cathay-usa.com/allasiapass) has become very
active since the program was announced Oct. 14.
