Whatta shocker!

US Says Microsoft Violated Pact - The U.S. Justice Department today
said it's seeking to hold Microsoft in contempt for
violating a 1995 antitrust agreement with the government. The
department said Microsoft's business practices since the
agreement represent a violation of the terms of the pact. The 1995
"final judgment" was aimed at barring the software giant
from imposing anticompetitive terms in its contracts with computer
equipment manufacturers that preinstall Microsoft
software. The department asked a federal court to impose a $1 million
a day fine on Microsoft if the alleged violations
continue. Microsoft says it's confident it's operating within limits
set by the 1995 consent decree.
