through Tech Center

The Indian technology sector is booming, and Apple Computer wants a

piece of the publishing pie. Since economic reform in 1991, India's

printing industry has grown to a $100 million market, and Apple's

domination of the publishing world is apparent in the Indian market.

However, Apple is now moving to aggressively increase its

marketshare in the region by opening a unique technology and training

center in New Delhi. Dubbed the Apple Publishing Technology Center,

the new resource center is the third of its kind in the world. A
similar

center was opened in China last year. It offers training in all
aspects of

publishing, from photography to HTML, from high-end pre-press

work to CAD. In addition, the center offers facilities for animation,

video, and audio work as well. Anand Shankaran, CEO of APTC, said

in an Economic Times article that India was a "very, very strong
market

for [Apple] products." APTC will also serve as a testing hub for
Apple

software and hardware products.</color>
