I'm willing to be corrected on this, but Steve never sold NeXT to Apple.
Apple, instead bought NeXT.

IE:

The Cobra isn't for sale,

"but I want it, I need it, how much?"

It isn't for sale, I don't want to sell it.

"I'll give you twice of what you originally paid for it and but\y you a new
Viper GTS."

Sold.
