the Software View: It's news to you

Welcome back, gentle reader. "the Software View" has its own domain
name and Internet web site. The address and URL is:
http://softwareview.com
I am in the process of moving all the archived, prior episodes to the
above web site.

Also, dear reader, there's news on the free email newsletter, mailing
list front. "the Software View" will be soon moving its entire mailing
list operations to one of the most popular mailing list management
packages. It's a Unix software program called Majordomo. Majordomo is
a program which automates the management of Internet mailing lists.
Commands are sent to Majordomo via electronic mail to handle all aspects
of list maintainance. Once a list is set up, virtually all operations
can be performed remotely, requiring no intervention upon the postmaster
of the list site. Majordomo controls a list of addresses for some mail
transport system (like sendmail or smail) to handle. Majordomo itself
performs no mail delivery (though it has scripts to format and archive
messages). Go to:
http://www.greatcircle.com/majordomo/

And, without a doubt, the witty and acerbic writings will continue apace
to flow from the tip of my digital pen without abate. Future episodes
include XML, design patterns, increasing returns, network externalities,
cooking pot markets, Big Night, the Internet is a railroad, underlying
software laws, and Tcl/Tk

Sincerely,
Mark Kuharich
