Chubby or tongue-tied? These characteristics need not pose an obstacle to
young Singaporeans cruising the Internet for dates. But a university
education is the minimum requirement to sign up for access to an online
match-making service at a government Web site - http://www.sdu.gov.sg.
Members of Singapore's Social Development Unit, a government organization
dedicated to match-making for university graduates, already organize many
functions where people of the opposite sex can meet. But computer dating
promises to open up opportunities dramatically for finding a mate in the
cyber age - especially in Singapore, which aims to be an "intelligent"
country with every home linked to the Internet and interactive cable TV.
